Fishing Trip #64 May 30, 2015 9:40 AM

Went fishing for about 80 minutes this morning. I spent most of the time at the east side of the lake.

Weather conditions: 55 degree air temperature with 10 to 15 mph winds from the northwest. The sky was mostly overcast.

• Caught 1 largemouth bass using an H2O XPRESS Shallow Running Jointed Square-Bill Crankbait.

Fishing Trip #63 May 29, 2015 5:55 AM

Went fishing for about 20 minutes on my way to work this morning. It was raining steadily.

I tried a plastic worm for a few minutes but nothing was biting. After that, I tried a crankbait and caught three largemouth bass.

Weather conditions: 63 degree air temperature and steadily raining with lightning and thunder in the distance.

Caught 3 largemouth bass using an H2O XPRESS Shallow Running Jointed Square-Bill Crankbait.

Fishing Trip #62 May 28, 2015 5:35 AM

Went fishing for about 40 minutes on my way to work this morning. Like yesterday, the fish were not interested in my crankbait, but I had several hits with the plastic worms.

Weather conditions: 64 degree air temperature with a light breeze from the northeast. The sky was partly cloudy.

• Caught 1 largemouth bass using a Wacky Rigged Yum Plastic Worm.

Fishing Trip #61 May 27, 2015 5:50 AM

Went fishing for about 40 minutes on my way to work this morning. The lake was calm and the birds were out in full force, singing at the top of their lungs. The bullfrogs have began their morning chorus of croaking. The fish were not interested in my crankbait, but they loved the plastic worms. I had three on the hook and landed two, one of which wiggled down the bank and into the water before I could take its picture.

Weather conditions: 61 degree air temperature with no wind. The sky was clear with a few high clouds.

Fishing Trip #60 May 26, 2015 5:40 AM

Went fishing for about 45 minutes on my way to work this morning. It was raining off and on. The fishing started great—three catches in the first 10 minutes and then it tapered off. I tried both crank bait and plastic worms.

Weather conditions: 58 degree air temperature with no wind. There was light, intermittent rain giving way to patches of blue sky.

Fishing Trip #59 May 23, 2015 10:00 AM

Went fishing for about 90 minutes this morning. I spent most of the time at the east side of the lake.

Weather conditions: 61 degree air temperature with 10 to 15 mph winds from the southeast. The sky was mostly overcast.

Fishing Trip #58 May 22, 2015 5:45 AM

Went fishing for about 45 minutes on my way to work this morning. When I first arrived, the surface of the lake was like a mirror reflecting the sky. I caught 3 bass. I kept the rubber band (O-ring) off the plastic worm and had no issues catching fish.

Weather conditions: 47 degree air temperature with no wind. The sky was mostly clear.

• Caught 1 largemouth bass using an H2O XPRESS Shallow Running Jointed Square-Bill Crankbait. 
• Caught 2 largemouth bass using a Wacky Rigged Yum Plastic Worm.

Fishing Trip #57 May 21, 2015 5:40 AM

Went fishing for about 50 minutes on my way to work this morning. I caught 4 bass. I had 3 more on the line using a plastic worm but they got off before I could land them. I have switched to a 1/0 Gamakatsu octopus single hook and put a modified "O-ring" (a.k.a. a rubber band) around the middle of the plastic worm. Each time I had a fish on with this set up, they got off. When I bypassed the rubber band and just put the hook into the plastic worm, the fish was better hooked and I was able to land them.

Weather conditions: 47 degree air temperature with light winds from the north. The sky was cloudy.

• Caught 2 largemouth bass using a Wacky Rigged Yum Plastic Worm.

Fishing Trip #56 May 20, 2015 6:00 AM

Went fishing for about 20 minutes on my way to work this morning. It was raining steadily and the wind was sporadic with gusts of 20 mph from the northeast. I totally love fishing in weather like this!!!

On my first cast I caught a largemouth bass with my H2O XPRESS Shallow Running Jointed Square-Bill Crankbait! I knew this was going to be a great morning.

Weather conditions: 47 degree air temperature and steadily raining with 20 mph wind gusts from the northeast.

Fishing Trip #55 May 19, 2015 5:45 PM

Went fishing for about 2 hours this evening. The lake was calm and quiet. I walked & fished my way around the entire lake tonight. I had the most strikes on the east side of the lake near a group of trees along the edge of the shore. I used a a Shallow Running Jointed Square-Bill Crankbait and a Wacky Worm rigged with a Yum plastic worm.

Weather conditions: 58 degree air temperature with light breezes. The sky was overcast with rain on the horizon. The temperature dropped 4 degrees and the wind increased significantly by the time I left.

• Caught 5 largemouth bass using a Wacky Rigged Yum Plastic Worm.

Fishing Trip #54 May 19, 2015 5:35 AM

Went fishing for about 50 minutes on my way to work this morning. The temperature was 20 degrees colder than yesterday and the lake was calm and quiet. On my second cast I had a 13 inch largemouth bass attack my H2O XPRESS Shallow Running Jointed Square-Bill Crankbait! Nice catch! A few casts later and I had a panfish on the line. Things started off with a bang. Later I decided to refine my casting and retrieving of the wacky worm. I caught another largemouth bass with a Yum plastic worm. Lots of birds singing and a beautiful mist on the surface of the water made this a great morning for being outdoors fishing.

Weather conditions: 45 degree air temperature with no wind. The sky was clear.

• Caught 1 largemouth bass and 1 panfish using an H2O XPRESS Shallow Running Jointed Square-Bill Crankbait. 
• Caught 1 largemouth bass using a Wacky Rigged Yum Plastic Worm.

Fishing Trip #53 May 18, 2015 5:30 AM

Went fishing for about 55 minutes on my way to work this morning. The lake was calm and quiet. I had three bass on but only caught one of them. The first two spit the hook just before I tried to pull them out of the water. I also tried the H2O XPRESS Shallow Running Jointed Square-Bill Crankbait but no bites of any kind.

Weather conditions: 66 degree air temperature with no wind. The sky was cloudy.
