Fishing Trip #42 April 30, 2015 5:35 AM

Went fishing for about 60 minutes on my way to work this morning. The lake was very calm and a light mist was hovering over the water. Lots of birds flying and singing in the trees. Very nice conditions for fishing.

Weather conditions: 45 degree air temperature with no wind. The sky was going from dawn to sunrise

Caught 3 largemouth bass: 1 using an H2O XPRESS Shallow Running Jointed Square-Bill Crankbait and 2 with my Midnight Special Spinnerbait.

Fishing Trip #41 April 29, 2015 5:30 AM

Went fishing for about 45 minutes on my way to work this morning. The lake was calm and quiet. I tried my Midnight Special Spinnerbait at several locations but no fish were interested. I also used my Shallow Running Crankbait had four bass strike it.

Weather conditions: 50 degree air temperature with no wind. The sky was going from dark to dawn.

Caught 4 largemouth bass using an H2O XPRESS Shallow Running Jointed Square-Bill Crankbait.

Fishing Trip #40 April 28, 2015 7:50 PM

Went fishing for about 70 minutes tonight. Beautiful weather and several other anglers were also seeing if they could catch anything.

Weather conditions: 66 degree air temperature with no wind. The sky was dusk and turning dark.

Went fishing for about an hour after work. The turtles were out in full force.

Weather Conditions: 70 degrees with a light breeze from the north, bright sunny sky.

No fish caught.

Fishing Trip #38 April 28, 2015 5:10 AM

Went fishing for about 10 minutes on my way to work this morning. I got to the lake at 5:10 AM and after 5 minutes I was contacted by a coworker calling in sick. The weather was perfect for fishing and I caught one within the first couple of minutes. I put new 10 lb test line on my poles last night and wanted to give them a good workout this morning, but my plans were cut short. I had to pack up and leave to cover the earlier shift of my coworker. 

Weather conditions: 42 degree air temperature with no wind. The sky was dark.

Fishing Trip #37 April 27, 2015 5:20 AM

Went fishing for about 45 minutes on my way to work this morning. The lake was calm and quiet. I caught the first bass on my third cast. He was a fighter! At 6:05 AM my line turned into a "bird's nest" as I cast out into a portion of the lake I haven't fished in a while. That was my cue to pack up and continue on to work. I think the 12 lb test line is too heavy and thick for this small lake. I'm planning on putting 10 lb test on later today and seeing the difference it makes.

Weather conditions: 44 degree air temperature with no wind. The sky was partly cloudy going from dark to dawn.

Fishing Trip #36 April 24, 2015 5:30 AM

Went fishing for about 60 minutes on my way to work this morning. The lake was choppy and windy. The wind kept gusting and blowing my lure around, making it somewhat difficult to cast it where I wanted, but it turned out to be my most productive outing so far this year—six largemouth bass. The last bass I caught was the biggest—it measured a full 14 inches.

Weather conditions: 53 degree air temperature with 10-15 mph winds from the southeast. The sky was cloudy going from dark to dawn. Rain clouds were on the horizon.

Went fishing for about 45 minutes on my way to work this morning. The lake was calm and quiet. I had four fish on the hook but was only able to land two of them.

Weather conditions: 43 degree air temperature with very lights winds from the southeast. The sky was cloudy going from dawn to sunrise.

Fishing Trip #34 April 22, 2015 5:45 AM

Went fishing for about 20 minutes on my way to work this morning. The lake was calm and quiet. The first bass was almost a keeper—about 14 inches long (in this lake, largemouth bass need to be at least 15 inches to keep). The second two bass that I caught were just "little guys" who were anxious to get released back into the water.

Fishing Trip #33 April 21, 2015 6:20 PM

Tried my hand at fishing after work today. Fished for about 30 minutes. There were about 6 other anglers there but no one was catching anything.

Weather Conditions: 70 degree air temperature with light winds from the northwest. Mostly sunny skies.

No fish caught and no bites.

Fishing Trip #32 April 21, 2015 5:20 AM

Went fishing for about 15 minutes on my way to work this morning. The lake was calm and quiet. I caught the first bass on my second cast. A few casts later a fish splashed and jumped right at the shore just as I was pulling the lure out of the water. About five minutes later, a second bass took the lure deep in its mouth. It took me much longer to remove the hook than I wanted. Still, I was able to release this fish back into the lake.

Weather conditions: 45 degree air temperature with no wind. Dark pre-dawn sky with clouds.

Fishing Trip #31 April 20, 2015 5:50 AM

Went fishing for about 35 minutes on my way to work this morning. Chilly and windy but the fish were active. I put new 12 lb monofiliment line on my Ugly Stik and gave it a try this morning. I love the action of this rod—you can feel every bump and when the fish strike, there is enough "give" in the rod to keep the fish on the hook.

Weather conditions: 44 degree air temperature with 16 mph WNW winds. The sky was dark blue changing to the light of dawn.
